closing post

This blog is officially closed. Kumbaga sa bill, may cut-off. :p I’m still not deleting this for historical references though. Sayang e. :p It’s Multiply for 2007 for me. Hopefully, I’ll be writing more memorable events and less crap this year.

Ngapla, kelangan may pa-epek akong year end report so here goes:

  • Travel. Baguio last February and Davao last July. Kumonti compared to last year’s Ilocos, Bohol and Puerto Galera pero sulit at masaya pa rin. :D

  • Sports. Gym for January to July, Badminton for August, Jogging for September, Hip Hop Dancing for October, Soccer for November and Eating for December. In short, in spite of everything, sa bandang huli, tumaba pa rin ako. :))

  • Movies and TV(?). Eversince Popy arrived from Tucson last April, linggo-linggo kami nanunuod ng sine. It’s our default date activity. Tapos, every lunch sa office, we watch series like Family Guy, American Dad, School Rumble, Heroes and Entourage. Nag-korean movies din pala kame nung mid-year. Next year, try naman namin theater para kunyari may sense of culture kame. :))

  • Other activities. Eurostar Carnival in January, Hot Air Balloon in February, Redvolution in March, Teambuilding in April…tapos tipid mode na kase magda-Davao na. :-p

  • Career.

  • Relationships. May love life na ko. Yun lang! :))

Popy and Mushy’s “artworks”

Happy 5th monthsary, popy!

Ok, it doesn’t get any mushier than this. :)) I’m normally not a wear-your-heart-on-your-sleeve person but it sure is nice to be reminded of something good. :D

Definition of terms:

  • Popy (also known as Topeng): originated from the word "Popcorn" with rootwords "Pop" and "Corn". "Pop" means papa or male lover and "Corn" means corny.
  • Mushy (also known as Nina): a characteristic of Popy that is hazardous when acquired. :p

Name: CaliforNina
Californina

Popy took this picture when he was not yet my Popy.  He was onsite in Arizona then and they toured California.

Name: Food for the Heart

I forwarded an email with pictures of creatively made sandwiches (formed as animals and the like) so Popy attempted to make one but it was harder than he thought so it turned out like this. :))

Name: NinaLight

Nina

Popy got bored in the hotel in Tucson so he made this. He used his then retiring celphone.

No, I don’t owe anyone anything. :p In case it’s not clear enough, it reads "I <heart> you". Being the frugal people that we are, we can’t take wasting paper towels so we used it in this way instead.

Name: Orange you glad we have each other

Believe it or not, Popy’s mom is sexier than me. Her secret? Fruit diet and aerobics. So for one week I tried it and Popy dittoed (eventhough he claimed it will make you go to the cr a little more often :))). This is what became of one of our fruit lunches.

Name: Candies Be Love

I got curious with the cookies and cream candy bars that are sold in RCBC Tower’s 5th floor canteen so Popy bought one for each of us. It turns out, it didn’t taste anything like cookies and cream and would be more useful as modelling clay. >:) Disclaimer: Mushy admits that she is not as "shapely" as represented here. :p

birthdays

September 5th, 2006 by gnin

I seem to do stupid things everytime my birth month arrives. My birthdays were always memorable but when I reached the 20+ age range, alarms went off inside my head telling me that Peter Pan left for Neverland without me. Think happy thoughts, think happy thoughts! I’ll just reminisce how my birthdays were back then:

Year 1990 turned 7

It was my first birthday party that I was aware of. (I had birthday parties when I turned 1 and 2.) I’m a shy kid and it was the only time that I remember myself being outgoing. It was held in Jollibee (Alabang, I think).

Year 1991 turned 8

My seatmate was always borrowing my eraser so our teacher teased us that we were holding hands. He gave me a clown doll on my birthday. (Note: I’m not very fond of clowns but I appreciated the guesture)

Year 2000 turned 17

My first year in college. Coming from an all-girls high school, a simple yellow pad of greetings collected by a guy classmate (although given to me a day after my actual birthday) made my day.

Year 2001 turned 18

My debut was a simple dinner at Don Henrico’s, Ermita. Just the way I like it. My mom, high school friends and college friends were there and that’s all I wanted at the moment. I consider myself a late bloomer so during those times I didn’t mind if the pictures developed from that event were mostly exposed and I was wearing brown (w/c is definitely not my color I realized). I think someone decided to court me because of this event but that’s a different story. :p

Year 2002 turned 19

I discovered God in a community (SOLV). I got to be honored by my brothers and sisters in Mcdo La Salle.

Year 2003 turned 20

After our OJT, we decided to do our thesis at Navitaire. My OJTmates asked an employee to "sabotage" my computer while I went to the CR so that the tech they.. *cough*we*cough* were eyeing on would fix it. Au, Che, Genina and Karen also surprised me with pansit and cake in the pantry. They give me tiger-skin-printed stuffs in a Meteor Garden paper bag and a greeting card when we had dinner at Jollibee Glorietta. :)) It was actually the first time that I’ve been surprised for my birthday.

Notice how Genina seems to be carrying a baby. It’s actually her jacket.:))

Year 2004 turned 21

This is when I started getting psychotic. I could no longer deny than I’m not a teen anymore. (Yes, in my mind, 20 was twen-teen.) Being fresh out of college, I got a job from a residential office. Then I realized that my parents weren’t going to break-even the tuition fee they spent on me at the rate I’m going. Nine days before my birthday, my mom’s eldest sister died so I took the opportunity to accompany my mom to the US and quit my job. As implied, my birthday was not much of a celebration and I slept my jet lag off the entire day. In fairness, my cousins got me some (gossip) magazines (which were becoming my pastime then) and chocolates. They also gave a card with stick drawings of us but with exagerated parts. Emily has big boobs, Alleli has big feet and I got big eyelashes. I "secretly" hoped that some guy would give me flowers but got a bunch from my cousin’s boyfriend instead (with my cousin’s consent that is).

Stupid thing: My initial plan was to get a job there but homesickness got the best of me. I wish I had stuck with this initial plan.

Year 2005 turned 22

Wanting to try something different for my birthday (yeah right!), I decided to host a house party at a place we put on rent in Moonwalk. I invited officemates for a night of eating, singing and drinking. Thankfully, mom prepared our dinner and my batchmates brought ingredients for the punch. I think the neighbors threw something at our roof because we were too damn loud. I got a back-baring blouse and dangling earrings as gifts. I had a blast.

Stupid thing: I joined a gym which lasts for a minimum of 1 year. It’s not really that stupid. I benefited from it considering Las Pinas is not rich in water resources and I had to be fit for my next beach trip aka Davao. I guess I just found it hard to shed off some of my "money-saving" self.

Year 2006 turned 23

This deserves a different entry. Coming soon.

June 19th, 2006 by gnin

Last friday, at about 4 pm, the avocado tree at the back of our house was struck by lightning. Branches were scattered everywhere. My brother described it as deafening. My youngest sister was said to be sleeping. Our househelper just smilingly reported the incident when my other sister got home from school (creepy!). My dad’s theory is that the electricity passed through the roof causing the dysfunction of our TV, computer and playstation. Thank God nobody was hurt.

walang kokontra

Walang happening.

Di pwede to.

Antagal ko na sa project na to.

Di pwede to.

Di pwede to.

Gusto ko na lumipat ng project.

Di daw pwede to.

Napadala na sila… Nasa ibang bansa na sila.. May sariling negosyo sila.. Nag-aaral sila… Ako hindi.

Di talaga pwede to.

Kelangan maghanap ng bagong trabaho.

Di pa pwede to.

Kelangan mag-aral na lang muna para umasenso.

Sana pwede na to.

Sana pwede na to.

Di ba mashadong maluho ang laptop?

Pwede naman siguro to.

Magse-seryoso na ko.

Pwede ba to?

Nakakatanda ang pagiging seryoso.

Di pwede to.

May point, pwede to.

not so holy week

April 17th, 2006 by gnin

Maundy Thursday

Set off to Mataas na Kahoy, Batangas with my fam and my dad’s ka-brads’ fam… Been there 2 years ago… the place is called La Virginia Resort and is privately owned by a client of my dad’s ka-brad so we didn’t have to pay for anything (except for the overstay that is).

Anyway, the morning was spent waiting at the rendezvous and travelling to the place.

Fasting was impossible because we had a buffet lunch so I decided to limit my meat intake to seafoods only instead. By 3 pm, I couldn’t take the heat so took a dip in the pool.

After an hour or so, had merienda where we met the owner of the place. She’s in her 70’s, generous (as reflected on our free stay and food there :p), the gambling type, and green-minded (as indicated in the "German style" she was doing to the banana). The next thing I knew, she was persuading me to give her my hand so she can tell my fortune through palm reading… I was hesitant because it’s Holy Week for Christ’s sakes but she was insistent! Let’s just say that most of the things she said were true. Fortunately, none pertained to the future.

By 530, took pictures on the "Ifugao Village" and tree house. I was surprised that they have the same fertility huts that I saw in Tam-Awan Village, Baguio.

Good Friday

Woke up at 9 am to take pictures. I must say..the person who "designed" the place (a) must be a schizophrenic (b) is obsessed with gigantic figurines and seating or (c) just plain weird. It’s like a circus/jungle in there. :)) Yes, it’s holy week and I’m criticizing and yes, we are staying there for free so I’ve no right to complain. I’m not complaining.. I’m just seeing to many weird things at the same time. Oc-oc! :)) Here are some of the pictures that I took:

(I can’t find time to organize the pictures so this will just have to follow)

Come to think of it, the place could be used for shooting a horror movie. Somewhere in the lines of trapped souls in those figur(in)es. Creepy! :))

Black Saturday

Ate breakfast. Had some family picture taking. Headed home.
